LABOUR in Toronto

We kicked off our 2026/27 season and the next chapter of LABOUR's touring life with three performances at DanceWorks in Toronto, including two sold-out houses. We were also thrilled to open DanceWorks' season under the new artistic direction of Jennifer Robichaud.

Toronto has become a special place for us over the years, with so many friends, colleagues, and familiar faces in its incredible dance community. Getting to reconnect with everyone, share the work, and feel such incredible energy from audiences was a pretty wonderful way to begin the season. Thank you, Toronto, for making us feel so at home.

A huge shout-out to our dancers for bringing LABOUR to life with such generosity and commitment, and especially to Jo Laïny Trozzo-Mounet, who joined us for these performances.

Thank you to Deanne Kearney of Dance Debrief and Istvan Dugalin of Istvan Reviews for writing about LABOUR at DanceWorks:

"It is humorous, absurd, physically demanding, and brilliant in its ability to communicate something that can be so difficult to put into words. There is nothing that I would change about this work.”

"Labour is a deeply compelling and ultimately exhilarating abstraction, a dance piece that feels somehow both anarchically raw and mechanical, always tapped into the pulse of its theme—womxn (as identified by the creators) finding and celebrating their frequently exploited, rarely acknowledged, collective power."

Thank you also to everyone who came to share some sweat with us at our workshop. We had such a wonderful mix of artists in the room, bringing empathy, responsibility, curiosity, and play to the work. That was A LOT of fun.

And a big thank you to Jennifer, Jake, Sophia, and the Theatre Centre team for welcoming us so warmly. Sending extra love to our dear friend Brandy Leary for leading such a thoughtful and generous post-show conversation with us ♡
